Wrekin Arts Photographic Club meets every Friday throughout the year, with the exception of Christmas and in addition there are special interest groups meeting at other times. The club was formed in 1977 by people with a common interest in photography, who wished to meet and share their enjoyment of picture taking. The same is true today, over 40 years later. The Club actively supports several Regional, National and International Exhibitions and Competitions with some members successfully submitting work in many overseas countries.
We cater for all aspects of Photography. New members and visitors are always welcome whether they be new to the hobby or experienced enthusiasts. There is a comprehensive programme of events, lectures, demonstrations and displays from some of the top photographers in the country. There are in addition highly enjoyable 'members' evenings, which tend to have a lighter touch! (see our Programme for details).
The objective of The Club is simply to increase the enjoyment of photography. Members wishing to improve their techniques will find many of our more experienced members always willing to give practical help or advice.
We also run a weekly 'Learner hour' for those members keen to learn more about photography and improve their work. Whilst this is primarily aimed at beginners/Intermediates, some topics covered would also be of interest to more experienced photographers ... we are all always learning.
We are based at The Belfrey Arts Centre (see Map) with our own permanent clubroom. We are also fortunate to have good facilities for disabled members with easy access for wheelchairs as the whole club premises are on the ground floor. Visitors and potential members are welcome to join us on any Friday evening during the 'Club Year' there is no obligation to join the club and we suggest that potential members come first as visitors before making any decision about joining. A warm welcome is assured. The meetings start at 7.30pm prompt, so as a courtesy to other members and guests please ensure you arrive a short while before.
We look forward to seeing you.
WREKIN ARTS PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB is a member of THE BELFREY ARTS CENTRE TRUST and affiliated to THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ALLIANCE OF GREAT BRITAIN through THE MIDLAND COUNTIES PHOTOGRAPHIC FEDERATION.
