WANT TO PHOTOGRAPH TOP CLASS TENNIS ??

Want to photograph tennis?

This is an opportunity you won't get anywhere else.

The Shrewsbury Club are hosting the W100 ITF women's competition again this year. This is the biggest event in Women's tennis to be staged in the UK in 2023, outside of the grass court season.

It attracts many up-and-coming stars as well as well established players making their way back from injury. In fact last year, Maketa Vondrusova won the singles and doubles cups before going on to win the WIMBLEDON LADIES SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP in June 2023 .... where else could you get the opportunity to photograph a Grand Slam champion at such close quarters.

Photographically it is a golden opportunity as the venue is quite small with seating very close to the play and you can sit low down at court level or raised up above the play. You don't need a long lens, remember action moves right across the court and if in front of you its little more than 10-20ft away, in fact last year I shot exclusively with a 90mm lens. A fast lens is an advantage to keep ISO low as lighting, whilst OK (obviously players need to see the ball!) will push your ISO in order to get a fast enough shutter speed and freeze the action.

On courts 2 & 3 the seating is between the two courts so you can simply swivel around to see either court or wander between each side (between play) and you are free to sit in any seats/benches on any courts.

It isn't an expensive day out or even week's pass for the opportunity to watch excellent tennis and get close enough to get good photos.

If you go, good luck. Unfortunately I will miss it this year.

Cheers
